Staub Cast Iron Braiser with Glass Lid, 28cm

Made in France, the Staub braiser is excellent for braising smaller cuts of meat or poultry, browning and searing, sautéing, and frying. It's ideal for recipes that start with browning or searing and continue with slow cooking in liquid, like braised short ribs or chicken, and versatile enough to make shallow roasts, casseroles, risottos, and even paella, then it goes straight to the table to serve all the deliciousness in style. Cast iron possesses the best cooking characteristics, and with the innovative glass lid, you can conveniently monitor your cooking without removing the lid, keeping moisture locked into your dishes.

• Provides perfect heat retention and distribution, and keeps the food hot or even cold for a long time.
• The textured black matte enamel coating requires no seasoning and develops delightful roasting aromas, infusing dishes with a concentrated sauce.
• Heavyweight borosilicate tempered glass lid is tight-fitting and retains moisture.
• Suitable for all types of hobs, including induction.
• Serves 3-4 people.

Enjoy the benefits of cast iron:

The casserole is made from enameled cast iron. The interior of the pot is enameled with a matte black finish, and the exterior has at least one coat of colored enamel.

As a material, cast iron’s benefits include:

• Excellent heat retention, slow diffusion, and even distribution of the same facilitate gentle simmering and reduced energy consumption.
• Cold retention: If the pot is refrigerated before serving, it will remain cool at the table.
• Extremely durable.
• The high-quality enamel offers improved resistance to thermal shocks and scratching and has outstanding non-stick properties.

Use Directions:

• Before using the braiser for the first time, rinse it with hot water and let it dry.
• Brush a little vegetable oil over the inside surfaces, heat it for one minute, and then remove the excess oil with kitchen paper.
• Although cast iron is known to sustain very high temperatures, we recommend you gradually increase the heat from low to medium to high to avoid thermal shocks and damage to the surface of the cast iron.
• Select a stovetop that appropriately corresponds to the base size of your braiser.
• When using induction stovetops and glass-ceramic surfaces, always lift your braiser rather than pushing it, to avoid damage to the cooking surface.
• Use silicone or wooden cooking utensils to avoid scratching the braiser's enamel surface.
• The braiser can be used as ovenware up to 240°C without lid and 200°C with lid.
• The braiser is not suitable for microwave use.
• Never put a hot braiser on an unprotected surface.
• Suitable for all types of hobs, including induction.

Care Tips:

• Allow the braiser to cool before rinsing it with water.
• If food residues have stuck to the braiser, do not use abrasive or corrosive detergents, scouring powder, or steel sponges to remove them. Instead, soak the braiser in warm water and then remove the residues with a wash-up liquid and non-scouring sponge.
• Dry the braiser thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel and only store it away when it is completely dry.
• Though the braiser can be washed in a dishwasher, it is recommended that you clean it by hand for long-lasting and durable use.
