Staub La Cocotte Cast Iron High Casserole, 24cm

Made in France, the Staub La Cocotte Cast Iron High Casserole (Dutch oven) is designed for exceptional slow cooking, making it ideal for stews, soups, braising, roasting, baking, and even homemade bread before serving directly at the table. Its tall, space-efficient design offers generous capacity without taking up additional stovetop space, making it perfect for preparing family meals and recipes with plenty of liquid. The innovative self-basting lid continuously returns condensed moisture to the food, helping meats stay juicy, vegetables become tender, and sauces develop rich, concentrated flavor.

• Tall, space-efficient design with a generous 4.7 L capacity serves 4–6 people while occupying the same stovetop space as a standard 24 cm cocotte.
• Ideal for soups, stews, braises, deep-frying with reduced splatter, bone-in cuts of meat, layered dishes, and recipes that rise during cooking.
• Textured black matte enamel interior requires no seasoning and delivers exceptional browning, heat retention, and even heat distribution while developing enhanced natural release properties over time.
• Heavyweight, tight-fitting self-basting lid with interior spikes continuously returns condensed moisture to the food, preserving heat, flavor, and tenderness throughout cooking.
• Suitable for all cooktops, including induction, with a smooth enamel base and oven-safe up to 260°C for versatile cooking.

Enjoy the benefits of cast iron:
The casserole is made from premium enameled cast iron. The interior features a textured matte black enamel finish that requires no seasoning, while the exterior is coated with durable colored enamel for long-lasting beauty and performance.

As a material, cast iron offers many advantages:

• Excellent heat retention, slow heat diffusion, and even heat distribution for gentle simmering and energy-efficient cooking.
• Retains cold as effectively as heat, helping keep chilled dishes cool when refrigerated before serving.
• Extremely durable and designed to provide years of reliable performance.
• The durable enamel coating resists thermal shock and everyday wear while the matte black interior develops enhanced natural release properties with regular use.
• Smooth enamel base is suitable for all cooktops, including induction.

Enjoy the benefits of natural self-basting:
The specially designed lid features Staub's signature self-basting spikes that continuously collect and redistribute condensed moisture over the food during cooking. This natural self-basting cycle helps produce tender meats, flavorful vegetables, and rich, aromatic sauces without requiring frequent basting.

Excellent moisture distribution and retention:
The innovative self-basting lid distributes moisture up to 9 times more effectively than conventional lids and retains 10% more moisture after 55 minutes of cooking, helping ingredients stay exceptionally juicy while preserving their natural flavors and nutrients."

Use Directions:

• Before using the casserole for the first time, rinse it with hot water and let it dry.
• Brush a little vegetable oil over the inside surfaces, heat it for one minute, and then remove the excess oil with kitchen paper.
• Although cast iron is known to sustain very high temperatures, we recommend you gradually increase the heat from low to medium to high to avoid thermal shocks and damage to the surface of the cast iron.
• Select a stovetop that appropriately corresponds to the base size of your casserole.
• When using induction stovetops and glass-ceramic surfaces, always lift your casserole rather than pushing it to avoid damage to the cooking surface.
• Use silicone or wooden cooking utensils to avoid scratching the casserole's enamel surface.
• The casserole can be used as ovenware up to 260°C.
• The casserole is not suitable for microwave use.
• Never put a hot casserole on an unprotected surface.
• Suitable for all types of hobs, including induction.

Care Tips:

• Allow the casserole to cool before rinsing it with water.
• If food residues have stuck to the casserole, do not use abrasive or corrosive detergents, scouring powder, or steel sponges to remove them. Instead, soak the casserole in warm water and then remove the residues with a wash-up liquid and non-scouring sponge.
• Dry the casserole thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel and only store it away when it is completely dry.
• Though the casserole can be washed in a dishwasher, it is recommended that you clean it by hand for long-lasting and durable use.
