Staub La Cocotte Cast Iron Round Casserole Basil Green, 28cm

Made in France, the Staub casserole (Cocotte or Dutch oven) is unsurpassed for slow-cooking stews and soups, braising large cuts of meat, roasting, baking, and even making bread, and then it goes straight to the table to serve all the deliciousness in style. Meat and fish stay juicy, vegetables become particularly tender, and all the aromas are retained in the flavorful sauce. Cast iron possesses the best cooking characteristics, and the innovative lid collects the condensed liquid and evenly releases it back onto the food, yielding moist, mouthwatering results.

• Provides perfect heat retention and distribution and keeps the food hot or even cold for a long time.
• The textured black matte enamel coating requires no seasoning and develops delightful roasting aromas, infusing dishes with a concentrated sauce.
• Tight-fitting lid with a drop structure preserves moisture and aroma.
• Suitable for all types of hobs, including induction.
• Serves 6-7 people.

Enjoy the benefits of cast iron:
The casserole is made from enameled cast iron. The interior of the pot is enameled with a matte black finish, and the exterior has at least one coat of colored enamel.

As a material, cast iron’s benefits include:

• Excellent heat retention, slow diffusion, and even distribution of the same facilitate gentle simmering and reduced energy consumption.
• Cold retention: if the pot is refrigerated before serving, it will remain cool at the table.
• Extremely durable.
• The high-quality enamel offers improved resistance to thermal shocks and scratching and has outstanding non-stick properties.

Enjoy the benefits of natural simmering:
Its under-lid drop structure ensures that condensed water formed during the cooking process is consistently basted over the meal being cooked. What you get are tender, flavorful meats and delightful vegetables rich in aroma and nutrition.

Excellent moisture distribution and retention:
The lid with special spikes distributes moisture 9 times more effectively than conventional lids and retains 10% more moisture than other pots after cooking for 55 minutes.

Use Directions:

• Before using the cookware for the first time, rinse it with hot water and let it dry.
• Brush a little vegetable oil over the inside surfaces, heat it for one minute, and then remove the excess oil with kitchen paper.
• Although cast iron is known to sustain very high temperatures, we recommend you gradually increase the heat from low to medium to high to avoid thermal shocks and damage to the surface of the cast iron.
• Select a stovetop that appropriately corresponds to the base size of your cookware.
• When using induction stovetops and glass-ceramic surfaces, always lift your cookware rather than pushing it to avoid damage to the cooking surface.
• Use silicone or wooden cooking utensils to avoid scratching the cookware's enamel surface.
• The cookware can be used as ovenware up to 240°C.
• The cookware is not suitable for microwave use.
• Never put hot cookware on an unprotected surface.
• Suitable for all types of hobs, including induction.

Care Tips:

• Allow the cookware to cool before rinsing it with water.
• If food residues have stuck to the cookware, do not use abrasive or corrosive detergents, scouring powder, or steel sponges to remove them. Instead, soak the cookware in warm water and then remove the residues with a wash-up liquid and non-scouring sponge.
• Dry the cookware thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel, and only store it away when it is completely dry.
• Though the cookware can be washed in a dishwasher, it is recommended that you clean it by hand for long-lasting and durable use.
