Staub La Cocotte Cast Iron Round Casserole Cherry Blossom, 20cm

Made in France, the Staub casserole (Cocotte or Dutch oven) is unsurpassed for slow-cooking stews and soups, braising large cuts of meat, roasting, baking, and even making bread, then it goes straight to the table to serve all the deliciousness in style. Meat and fish stay juicy, vegetables become particularly tender, and all the aromas are retained in the flavorful sauce. Cast iron offers exceptional heat retention and even heat distribution, while the innovative self-basting lid collects condensed moisture and evenly returns it to the food, creating moist, mouthwatering results.

• Provides exceptional heat retention and even heat distribution, keeping food hot or cold for longer.
• The textured black matte enamel interior requires no seasoning and promotes exceptional browning while enhancing roasting aromas.
• Tight-fitting lid with self-basting drop structure continuously redistributes moisture for juicy, flavorful results.
• Suitable for all types of hobs, including induction, and oven-safe up to 260°C.
• Serves 2-3 people.

Enjoy the benefits of cast iron:
The casserole is crafted from enameled cast iron. The interior features a textured matte black enamel that requires no seasoning, while the exterior is finished with durable colored enamel for lasting beauty.

As a material, cast iron offers many advantages:

• Exceptional heat retention, slow heat diffusion, and even heat distribution for gentle simmering and energy-efficient cooking.
• Excellent cold retention, helping keep chilled dishes cool when the casserole is refrigerated before serving.
• Extremely durable construction built for years of everyday cooking.
• High-quality enamel that is highly resistant to thermal shock and scratching, while the textured interior develops improved food release properties over time with regular use.

Enjoy the benefits of natural simmering:
The unique self-basting lid features interior spikes that continuously collect and redistribute condensed moisture back over the food throughout cooking. This helps produce tender meats, flavorful vegetables, and rich, aromatic sauces while preserving moisture and nutrients.

Excellent moisture distribution and retention:
The specially designed lid distributes moisture up to 9 times more effectively than conventional lids and retains up to 10% more moisture after 55 minutes of cooking, helping create exceptionally juicy, flavorful dishes every time.

Use Directions:

• Before using the casserole for the first time rinse it with hot water and let it dry.
• Brush a little vegetable oil over the inside surfaces, heat it for one minute, and then remove the excess oil with kitchen paper.
• Although cast iron is known to sustain very high temperatures, we recommend you gradually increase the heat from low to medium to high to avoid thermal shocks and damage to the surface of the cast iron.
• Select a stovetop that appropriately corresponds to the base size of your casserole.
• When using induction stovetops and glass-ceramic surfaces, always lift your casserole rather than pushing it, to avoid damage to the cooking surface.
• Use silicone or wooden cooking utensils to avoid scratching the casserole's enamel surface.
• The casserole can be used as ovenware up to 260°C.
• The casserole is not suitable for microwave use.
• Never put a hot casserole on an unprotected surface.
• Suitable for all types of hobs including induction.

Care Tips:

• Allow the casserole to cool before rinsing it with water.
• If food residues have stuck to the casserole, do not use abrasive or corrosive detergents, scouring powder, or steel sponges to remove them. Instead, soak the casserole in warm water and then remove the residues with a wash-up liquid and non-scouring sponge.
• Dry the casserole thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel and only store it away when it is completely dry.
• Though the casserole can be washed in a dishwasher, it is recommended that you clean it by hand for long-lasting and durable use.
