How to Use Your V60
Prepare the Filter:
Fold the paper filter along its seam and place it inside the V60 dripper.
Rinse the Filter:
Place the V60 on your mug or decanter and rinse the paper filter with hot water. This removes papery taste and preheats the brewer. Discard this rinse water.
Add Coffee:
Add medium-fine ground coffee to the rinsed filter and gently shake to level the coffee bed.
Bloom the Coffee:
Start a timer, then pour about 36 grams of hot water (just off boil) to saturate the grounds. Let it sit for about 30 seconds to allow the "bloom" phase, where CO2 gas releases.
Continue Pouring:
Slowly pour the remaining hot water in slow, steady, overlapping circles, ensuring all the coffee grounds remain wet.
Finish Brewing:
Allow all the water to drain through the coffee and into your mug or decanter.
Serve:
Remove the V60 with the filter and grounds, then enjoy your freshly brewed coffee.
How to Care for Your V60
Rinse Immediately:
After brewing, immediately rinse your V60 with hot water to wash away most coffee oils and grounds.
Deep Clean Weekly:
At least once a week, perform a deep clean.
- Use a soft brush or sponge with a mild, unscented detergent to clean the dripper.
- Rinse thoroughly to ensure no soap residue is left behind.
Inspect for Buildup:
Regular cleaning prevents coffee oils from building up, which can affect the taste of your next cup.
Hand Wash for Best Results:
While some V60s are dishwasher safe, handwashing with mild soap and warm water is recommended for better preservation.
