Teacups are small drinking vessels sized for brewed tea and similar hot beverages. This category includes cups with matching saucers as well as standalone cups that sit comfortably in the hand and hold a standard serving of tea. It also includes Istikanas, the slim, curved tea glasses traditionally used for serving black tea, especially in Middle Eastern and Turkish settings. Compared to larger mugs, teacups and Istikanas have a more measured size and balanced shape that suits the way tea is typically poured and enjoyed at the table.

These cups are made of materials chosen for how they handle heat and how they feel when used. Porcelain and ceramic teacups keep tea warm while providing a smooth drinking surface, while glass versions, including Istikanas, let you see the color and clarity of the tea as it is poured. Some designs include a saucer, which gives you a place to rest the cup between sips or to set a spoon or a used tea bag. Sets with saucers work well for shared tables or more formal settings, while single cups suit everyday use when you are pouring one cup at a time.
