Tea Press

Tea presses are steeping tools that let you brew loose tea and then separate the leaves from the liquid in one motion. In a tea press, water and tea leaves sit together in a cylindrical vessel while the leaves infuse. When the tea has steeped long enough, you push down a plunger with a fine mesh filter that holds the leaves beneath it and lets the brewed tea rise above, ready to pour. This method gives you control over steeping time and strength because the leaves stay immersed in the water until you decide to press.
The mesh filter catches most of the leaves and keeps them contained, which makes the tea easier to pour into cups without sediment. Tea presses work well for a range of loose teas and herbal blends and are sized for individual or multiple servings, depending on the model. In a kitchen routine, a tea press sits between heating water and serving tea. After the kettle brings water to the right temperature, you add measured tea leaves to the press, pour in the hot water, and wait the appropriate steeping time before pressing down. The whole tool is designed to make steeping and straining straightforward without extra equipment.
